Weighted Options

Weighted options allow you to choose how likely a particular option's value is to be used in game generation. The higher a value is weighted, the more likely the option will be chosen. Think of them like entries in a raffle.

Choose the options you would like to play with! You may generate a single-player game from this page, or download an options file you can use to participate in a MultiWorld.

Game Options

Progression Balancing

A system that can move progression earlier, to try and prevent the player from getting stuck and bored early. A lower setting means more getting stuck. A higher setting means less getting stuck.
This is a range option.

Accepted values:
Normal range: 0 - 99

The following values have special meanings, and may fall outside the normal range.
  • 0: Disabled
  • 50: Normal
  • 99: Extreme

Accessibility

Set rules for reachability of your items/locations. **Full:** ensure everything can be reached and acquired. **Minimal:** ensure what is needed to reach your goal can be acquired.

death_link

When you die, everyone who enabled death link dies. Of course, the reverse is true too.

Playthrough

Goal

Determines your victory condition. - specter: Find your World Keys and complete the "Showdown with Specter!" boss fight. - final_specter: Find your World Keys, catch every monkey in the game and complete the "Final Showdown with Specter!" boss fight.

World Key Behaviour

Determines the behaviour of "World Key" items. - level: Each "World Key" item will unlock one additional level. - world: Each "World Key" item will unlock all levels up to (and including) the next boss fight. - alternating: "World Key" items will alternate between unlocking all levels leading up to the next boss fight, and unlocking the boss fight itself.

Level Shuffle

Randomises the order of level unlocks. Your final battle with Specter will always be placed at the end of the game. - off: Levels will appear in their default order. - separate: Levels and bosses will be shuffled separately. - mixed: Levels and bosses will be shuffled together.

Randomise Starting Room

Randomises the starting room of each level.

Music Randomisation

Randomises the music played throughout the game. - default: Music will not be touched by randomisation. - level: The music track for each level will be randomised. Levels with multiple music tracks will have each track randomised individually. - room: The music track for each individual room will be randomised.

Playable Character

Determines which character you will play as. - hikaru: Play as Hikaru (Jimmy). Pipotchi will tag along to help you out. - kakeru: Play as Kakeru (Spike). You won't have Pipotchi's help.

Locations

Message Phone Locations

Adds locations for activating each message phone. *Note that playing as Kakeru will disable message phones.

Gotcha Box Locations

Determines how many locations can be obtained through usage of the Gotcha Box. Please be mindful of other players in your world when increasing this number.
This is a range option.

Accepted values:

Gotcha Box Gating

Determines how new items will be made accessible from the Gotcha Box. To prevent excessive grinding, logic will not always expect you to obtain all accessible items from the Gotcha Box. More items will be logically expected as you progress through the game. - none: All items within the Gotcha Box are accessible from the beginning. This does not mean you are logically expected to immediately obtain them all. - levels: More items will become available from the Gotcha Box as you unlock more levels. - restock_items: More items will become available from the Gotcha Box as you receive "Gotcha Box Restock" items.

Determines a percentage of Gotcha Box locations that will be forced to contain filler items.

Starting Gadgets

Determines which gadgets you will begin the game with. You may enter "Random" multiple times to receive multiple random gadgets. Starting without the Monkey Net requires that message phone or Gotcha Box locations be enabled. Valid names are: "Random", "Monkey Net", "Stun Club", "Monkey Radar", "Dash Hoop", "Catapult", "Sky Flyer", "R.C. Car", "Bananarang", "Water Cannon", "Electro Magnet", "Power Punch"

Extra World Keys

Adds extra "World Key" items to the pool, making it easier to unlock new levels.
This is a range option.

Accepted values:
Normal range: 0 - 20

Shuffle Water Net

Determines whether to lock the Water Net behind receiving an item. If this is enabled and you haven't received the Water Net, then touching water will instantly cause you to lose a Cookie and respawn.

Adds filler items for each unlockable Monkey Fable, Movie, Soundtrack, Comic Strip, Concept Artwork, Secret Photo and Stage Photo.

Logic & Tricks

Logic Difficulty

Determines the overall difficulty of logic. Certain tricks or glitches can be enabled separately. - normal: You will be logically expected to have a majority of gadgets at your disposal. - hard: You will be logically expected to use gadgets in novel ways. - expert: You will be logically expected to make difficult jumps and use gadgets in unexpected ways. Hip drop attacks and rocket dives may be essential.

Hidden Monkey Logic

If this option is enabled, certain well-hidden monkeys will logically expect the Monkey Radar or See-All Scope. This option is recommended for inexperienced players who do not already know where each monkey is located.

Air Crawl Behaviour

Determines the behaviour of the "Air Crawl" glitch. - default: You can perform the Air Crawl glitch as normal. - patched: The Air Crawl glitch is impossible to perform. - item: The Air Crawl glitch can be performed after receiving the "Air Crawl" item. - progressive: The Air Crawl glitch can be performed after receiving two "Progressive Catapult" items.
