Setup Guide for Haste Archipelago
Welcome to Haste Archipelago! This guide will help you set up the randomizer and play your first multiworld. Whether playing, generating, or hosting an Archipelago room with Haste, you must follow a few simple steps to get started.
Unfortunately, the Mac OSX and Console versions are not officially supported.
Requirements
You'll need the following components to be able to play/generate with Haste:
- Install Archipelago v0.6.4 or higher.
Make sure to install the Generator if you intend to generate multiworlds. - The latest version of the Haste APWorld.
Installation
All users should follow these steps:
- Double-click the
haste.apworldfile. It should automatically install the APWorld after some time. You will get a little dialog window telling you it has been installed successfully.- Alternatively, copy the
haste.apworldto your Archipelago installation'scustom_worldsfolder (Windows default to:%programdata%/Archipelago).
- Alternatively, copy the
Setting Up a YAML
All players playing Haste must provide the room host with a YAML file containing the settings for their world.
A YAML for Haste (and all AP games) can be generated by running the Generate Template Options command from the Archipelago Launcher window.
Once you're happy with your settings, provide the room host with your YAML file and proceed to the next step.
Generating a Multiworld
If you're generating a multiworld game that includes Haste, you'll need to do so locally as the online generator does not yet support Haste. Follow these steps to generate a multiworld:
- Gather all player's YAMLs. Place these YAMLs into the
Playersfolder of your Archipelago installation. If the folder does not exist, then it must be created manually. The files here should not be compressed. - Modify any local host settings for generation, as desired.
- Run
ArchipelagoGenerate.exe(without.exeon Linux) or clickGeneratein the launcher. The generation output is placed in theoutputfolder (usually named something likeAP_XXXXX.zip). * Please note that if any player in the game you want to generate plays a game that needs a ROM file to generate, you will need the corresponding ROM files. A ROM file is not required for Haste at this stage. - In the next section, use the archive file
AP_XXXXX.zipto host a room or provide it to the room host.
Hosting a Room
If you're generating the multiworld, follow the instructions in the previous section. Once you have the zip file corresponding to your multiworld, follow these steps to host a room. Follow the instructions for hosting on the website from a locally generated game or on a local machine.
Connecting to a Room
Haste does not have a dedicated AP client from the AP Launcher: the client is built directly into the Steam Workshop mod itself. However, it is recommended that you open a generic text client along side the game if you wish to hint items, as the in-game client does not support text input at this time.
- If you haven't already subscribe to the Archipelago Randomizer Mod on Steam
- Start Haste on Steam
- When the main menu appears go to Settings
- In the General tab, choose an new / empty save (You cannot use a vanilla save or a save from a previous AP)
- In the Archipelago tab, enable the Archipelago mod
- Fill out the data to connect to the server (Server name, port, username, password)
- Start the game
Troubleshooting
- Ensure that you are running version v0.6.4 or higher of Archipelago, and the latest version of the apworld.
- Verify the integrity of your game files on Steam
- Report issuses to the Haste thread (under
future-game-design) in the Archipelago Discord
Incompatible Mods
Some mods have been found to cause problems with Haste AP, it is highly recommended that you remove them if playing with this mod. If a mod is not listed, the mod is (probably) okay to use with AP.
- Speed Demon (REVIVED)
- Completely incompatible: Both mods make drastic changes to the same base-game functions and cannot coexist peacefully.
- HarmonyX
- Warning: Has caused issues with the hub NPCs in the past, could cause more issues in the future.
